There is a certain oxymoron-by-design in the concept of Spire: a device that tracks and sounds a (gentle) alarm when you're getting tense.  The idea is that we are not always mindful of the moments when tension is attacking us; a simple nudge might be all we need to help us focus.

The device is quite attractive.  It looks like a pebble with a money clip attached to it.  It charges wirelessly by putting the sensor on a USB powered charging stand that mixes attractive metals and cork.  The whole thing looks like it belongs in a very upscale spa.

The instructions suggest that you put the sensor pebble side inward, attaching it to the waist band of your slacks.  Honestly, that was not the most comfortable place for someone of my girth to wear extra gear.  The device got warm in the charger, so strapping it to my belly was just not that comfortable.

The Spire monitors your breathing.  It classifies three special ways of "being":  Focused, Stressed, and Relaxed.  Mostly it found me fairly focused when I was working.  Oddly, it found my stress levels often strongest when I eat.  It gives you a little buzz when you're stressed, but I rarely felt it.

I've looked on-line and I see many people seem to find some support from the Spire.  I found better results from various meditation aids, but your results may vary.
