Just Dance 2016

Dance the night away!

Just Dance is one of my favorite games for holiday parties. This year's version is the best ever, and here's why:  you don't need to buy a controller for everyone who wants to dance.  With the PS4, Xbox One and Wii U, you just have your guests download the free app to their smartphone and they are ready to dance.

Just Dance is fun to play by yourself - in fact it is a great work and has a special mode just for that.  But, there is no doubt that the best way to play is with a room full of friends.  On the PS4 and Xbox One you can have up to six people dancing all at once (if your room is big enough)!  Other versions support up to four players.  Not having to buy controllers for all those players is a huge cost savings, and the phones as controllers were just fine, a huge technical achievement.

Part of the key to the success of Just Dance is the great and varied selection of music. There are big hits like Uptown Funk, Meghan Trainor's All About The Bass, and Want To Want Me by Jason Derulo. But then there are surprises like You're the One That I Want from Grease, and even The William Tell Overture (styled as a horse race, no less) that keep the party interesting.  All the stars of pop are on the playlist: Nicki Mnaj, Lady Gaga, Kelly Clarkson, and Katy Perry, just to mention a few.

The graphics are stylized and have enough glitter and glam to spice up the dance floor in your family room.  Speaking of the "family", by the way, the lyrics are cleaned up, so you don't have to worry.

Need more dance tracks?  Just Dance Unlimited is a subscription service with over 150 additional tunes.  There are a variety of subscription options, from $6.99 a month to $39.99 for the whole year.  Alternatively, you can buy Just Dance Gold which includes the standard package plus a three month subscription.
