E3 Ends...Despite Recession Rich Product Lines For 2009

E3 2009 officially ended at 2009, but you couldn't tell that from the raft of emails I've received from publicists since the six o'clock witching hour.

Some initial impressions (I'll have much more in the next few days, including exclusive behind the scenes interviews): I was impressed with the depth of the offerings at this year's show. Yes, there was all the blood and mayhem we've come to expect from E3. What was surprising was the number of titles that tried to tap into the creativity of the creative juices of players. Social networking has hugely impacted on the world of gaming, and like multiplayer before it, will soon be a must-have feature of any self-respecting title. There were games for the hard-core, but also games for families, kids, and seniors. And, these were not - for a change - second tier games. Broadening the market to non-gamers was a key element of most publishers.
